There are many different types of kiji-guruma in the Kyushu region, ranging from brightly colored ones to ones made of wood, all of which are very unique. Each has its own origin and is still a popular local toy.
It might be a good idea to collect a Kiji-guruma from each of Fukuoka, Oita, and Kumamoto prefectures and enjoy the differences.
