This toy was made by applying a karakuri device that was popular at the time, based on a legend that Danjuro IX, a famous actor in the Edo period, prayed to Oji Inari and won a big hit when he performed the Kabuki play “TAN”.
It is said that this toy is popular as a souvenir of Oji Inari’s visit to the shrine.
