This is a typical example of “Kishimayama Itto-bori” carving, a kachikachi-gurtuma with a magpie motif.
Ittobori carving, which was popular at the time for its motifs of wild birds living in the KishimaYama region, is unfortunately now discontinued.

Kishiyama Ittobori carving,” with its lovely and unique appearance, is a local toy born after World War II.
It is a proud local toy of Japan that has been recognized overseas as well, having won the World Craft Good Design Award in Switzerland. Unfortunately, it is no longer produced.
