Every year in April (on the fourth Sunday), the “Uso-kae Festival” is held at Takimiya Tenmangu Shrine in Ayagawa Town, Ayauta District, Kagawa Prefecture.
This festival is held exclusively at Takimiya Tenmangu Shrine; it is the only place in Kagawa Prefecture where it takes place.
The festival is called “Usokae,” which means that the sins and impurities one has unwittingly committed throughout the year are purified, and all past misdeeds are transformed into lies, which are then exchanged for good deeds.
